Speaker: Chitrita Benerji

Listening to Chitrita Banerji describe the legendary cuisine and culture of her native Bengal is a virtual journey to India, the land of spices. Join us in October as she takes us on an intimate exploration of the region known as “golden Bengal.”

Banerji, a Bengali-American writer, grew up in Calcutta, India and now lives in Cambridge. In both fiction and nonfiction, she explores the relationships between memory, history, culture, religion, and food. Topics that have never been more relevant than they are today. In the foreword to Banerji’s Bengali Cooking: Seasons and Festivals, Deborah Madison wrote, “Seldom has a book presented such a full-blown and lush awareness of the complex relationships between food and culture.”
